Rovin D4 Cabriolet - 1951 by Perico001 The front and rear of this car are the same. The small wheels and high-looking body give the Rovin the appearance of a pedal car.

Yet, for such a small car, the Rovin has surprisingly advanced technology, such as a three-speed synchronised gearbox and independent suspension. The initial models were fitted with a 260 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, but this was soon replaced by a 462 cc water-cooled flat-twin.

Frenchman Robert de Rovin was building motorcycles in the 1920s, as well as a couple of cycle-cars for his personal use. After World War II he started producing small cars. Although later models like this D4 were fitted with a 13 hp 462 cc engine, the Rovins were not able to compete with the Citroën 2CV and the marque disappeared in 1958.

Rovins were imported in the Netherlands by Louwman & Parqui.

Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Tourer - 1929 by Perico001 Coachwork by...

Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Tourer - 1929 by Perico001 Coachwork by Barker

Sold for € 201.250

Thrilled by the success of its 1927/28 Riviera trials car, Rolls-Royce produced two further cars to identical specifications, down to its colour scheme of cream bodywork with polished aluminium bonnet, scuttle and wings and upholstery, which was in apple green leather. This car, the third, chassis no. 82OR, was retained by the factory until October 1930. The Rolls-Royce then led quite an adventurous existence, appearing in 1956 in Mombasa, Kenya. Reportedly, whilst in Mombasa, it was used to chauffeur Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh during a visit to the city.

The Rolls eventually passed to William Proctor, who sold the car in 1964 to Jack Porter, an American who would maintain it for 32 years. In 1997, the Rolls was acquired by enthusiasts from London. It changed hands again two years later and, after researching its history, decided to have the car painstakingly restored once more in the original colours. The result of the restoration is still spectacular today, just as it was when it earned the Lucius Beebe Trophy at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 1999.

To find a pre-war Rolls-Royce that was specially built by the factory, for the factory, to show off the best of its efforts, is a remarkable opportunity. https://flic.kr/p/24EQTZk

Siata 300 BC Compressore - 1952 by Perico001 Coachwork by Bertone

Designed by Count Mario Reveli di Beaumont, this car is the 22nd example of some 35 units bodied by Carrozzeria Bertone and is fitted with the rare supercharger specially made for Fiat. It was raced in the USA, where these cars were nicknamed “Baby Ferraris” because they were small, fast and (mostly) red. This car was found in 2011 in a garden in Oakland, California.
