Bentley Type R Continental Fastback - 1955 by Perico001 Coachwork by H.J. Mulliner
Chassis n° BC69D
Many at Rolls-Royce wanted to develop Bentley’s sporting pedigree like the pre-war prototype 4,5-litre Embiricos penned by Georges Paulin. It influenced Derby stylist, Ivan Everndale, when he sketched the Continental. He retained the vertical grille and adopted the powerful front and fluid rear.

Mclaughin, an attorney from Scarsdale, New York, who kept the car until he died in 1988, when he was in retirement in Atlantis, Florida. His widow then sold the MG to lifelong friend Gerrit van Giffen, who lived in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. The current owner bought the car from him in 2011 when he moved back to Holland.

Ford Thunderbird - 1955 by Perico001 The Thunderbird series was the Ford reply to the Chevrolet Corvette; unlike the “Vette” , since the beginning of its production, it was fitted with the V8 engine, available in various horsepower levels.
While the Corvette was the sports and essential car, the Thunderbird, fitted with electrical windows and adjustable seats, offered luxury and comfort to its two passengers.
The modern body style was enhanced by the “panoramic” windshield (particularly in fashion at that time in the United States and later dropped because of the optical distortions it created) and by the rear fins that, in the following series, had much larger and exaggerated dimensions.
The bonnet convexity allowed to lodge the 4-barrel carburettor of the most powerful engine, giving 285 bhp.
The car shown in the Museum is of the series, produced from 1955 to 1957, nowadays more appreciated and sought after by the collectors, especially for its clean and compact line.

Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing - 1955 by Perico001 W198
This 300 SL Gullwing was delivered through Max Hoffman’s New York dealership, in Light Metallic Blue over red leather, and equipped with Rudge knock-off wheels and a fitted luggage set. These are the most desirable factory options for the 300 SL. First owner was Raymond Maggard of San Pedro. Maggard served as a captain in the US Army during WW2. Later he became the 1947 NCCA pole vault champion. The car was sold on and repainted in Graphite Grey but otherwise kept in original condition with original details such as the Bosch headlamp rings, the carpet in the boot and the Rudge wheels to prove. A matching luggage set completed this very original car.
