Iso Rivolta Vision Gran Turismo Zagato Concept - 2017 by...

Iso Rivolta Vision Gran Turismo Zagato Concept - 2017 by Perico001 Now, with the IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo, Zagato closes the circle and takes us back to Milan, where, after World War II, the GT category of motorsport was conceptualized, created, and promoted by four illustrious Milanese figures: Count Giovanni Lurani, journalists Giovanni Canestrini and Corrado Filippini, and gentleman driver Elio Zagato, the father of Andrea, the current CEO of Zagato. This intermediate GT class hosted cars that were halfway between production touring saloons and racing purpose-built barchettas of international motorsport.

Zagato-bodied models – streamlined and lightweight coupes, successful in racing, but also comfortable enough for everyday use – found their natural place in the new GT category, monopolizing it and securing numerous wins. The Zagato IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo is the realization of a dream, and designed to race in the virtual world of the Gran Turismo Sport game.

The Zagato IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo featured in the video game is built around a bespoke chassis and a Callaway powertrain. Rear wheel drive, it mounts a twin turbo 6.2 liter V8, with a power output of 997 hp and a top speed of 365 km/h. Thanks to a weight of 1.129 kg, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2”7. The gearbox is a ten speed automatic/sequential.

Fiat 8V Zagato 1st Series - 1953 by Perico001 Coachwork by...

Fiat 8V Zagato 1st Series - 1953 by Perico001 Coachwork by Zagato
Chassis no. 00062

The Fiat 8V (or “Otto Vu”) is a sports car produced by Fiat from 1952 to 1954. The car was introduced at the 1952 Geneva Motor Show. The 8V got its name because at the time of its making Ford had a copyright on the term V8. Apart from the differential the car did not share any parts with the other Fiats (but many parts were made by Siata and they used them for their cars).
The 8V was developed by Dante Giacosa and the stylist Luigi Rapi. The Fiat V8 had a 70 degree V configuration with up to 1996 cc, at 5600 rpm the engine produced 105 hp in standard form giving a top speed of 190 km/h.

Only 114 of these high-performance coupés had been produced by the time the cars were withdrawn from production in 1954. Nevertheless, they continued to win the Italian 2-litre GT championship every year until 1959.

34 Otto Vu’s had a factory produced bodywork by ‘Carozzeria Speciale’ FIAT. Some cars had the bodywork done by other Italian coachbuilders. Carozzeria Zagato made 30 that they labelled “Elaborata Zagato”. Ghia and Vignale also made bodyworks. Most were coupés, but some spyders were made as well.

This particular 8V Zagato was only registered in 1955 by its first owner Lumir Leo Vesely of the Club Scuderia Ital-France, Milano. He participated in 6 races that same year with this car finishing 39th overall in the Mille Miglia.

Aston Martin DB7 Zagato - 2004 by Perico001 n° 82 of 99

Rekindling one of the motoring world’s most iconic partnerships, Aston Martin and Zagato fittingly unveiled the new DB7 Zagato to a private gathering of valued customers in 2002 at Gieves & Hawkes, No.1 Saville Row, London. Based on a shortened DB7 platform, the Zagato employed the 435bhp V12 powerplant mated to a short-throw 6 speed manual transmission. The distinctive styling, including Zagato’s trademarked “double-bubble” roof, evoked strong memories of the iconic DB4 GT Zagato from the 1960s, not to mention the stunning driveline from the most focused DB7 built, the GT, ensuring that the orderbook for all 99 cars was quickly fulfilled. Bodied mostly in aluminium by Carrozzeria Zagato in Italy, the car was almost 60kg lighter than the standard DB7 GT giving it a suitably enhanced turn of speed over its mechanically similar stablemate.

Frank Lloyd Wright penned some of the most stylish American buildings ever made, so it only makes sense he would drive something as pretty as this Cord L-29.
