After numerous trials with production racing cars, the one-armed driver successfully built his own racing car- for left-hand drivers - made of Porsche 550 parts and a 1.500 cc Spyder engine. It was an all-round vehicle that he could drive as a Monoposto as well as a sports car with fitted mudguards and spare wheel behind the driver’s seat. And with success : Otto Mathé took part in countless mountain, circuit and ice races with the car, winning the Austrian driver championship on numerous occasions.
