This gorgeous and important Alvis 4,3 Litre Vanden Plas Concealed Hood with its elegant design and glowing lines, represents a great example of the pinnacle of 1930s British car building. Like Rolls-Royce and Bentley, Alvis gave you a rolling chassis with an engine, the coachbuilder of your choice, Vanden Plas, Mayfair, Charlesworth, would then create a bespoke bodywork and interior, the ultimate personalized ‘one-off’. In this case the coachbuilder chosen, was Vanden Plas. It is believed that FMP 888 is the only remaining example of just two bodies produced to this design. Previous owners include American film and theatre entrepreneur Ernest Stern.
