Robert Downey Jr.’s 1970 Ford Boss 302 Mustang—much like the actor himself—is a testament to the possibilities of a later in life resurrection. This thing is a damn near perfect example of a restomod gone completely right. What started as a first-gen Boss 302 was gutted in favor of a modern 5.0-liter V8 with a supercharger, which means it outputs more than 650 horsepower. It also got an aftermarket aluminum frame, a “pro touring” QuadraLink suspension, one-off HRE wheels, analog gauge cluster, updated interior, carbon-fiber body pieces and a unique paint job. Before you send the Mustang mafia after us for supporting modifications some would consider sacrilegious, the entire build was performed by the experts at Wisconsin-based SpeedKore with input from RDJ throughout the process. If the name SpeedKore sounds familiar, it’s because their cars have taken home plenty of awards from shows like SEMA and also appeared in multiple Fast and the Furious films.
